Congratulations to FS Short of 1312 (City of Southend-on-Sea) Squadron, who has been appointed as the City’s very first Mayor’s Cadet!
Following a competitive selection process, FS Short was chosen by the incoming Mayor, Cllr Nigel Folkard, and was officially appointed during the Mayor Making Ceremony at the Civic Centre on Wednesday 7th May 2025
Cllr Folkard, who has served the city in various roles for over two decades, now takes on the ceremonial duties of Mayor—representing Southend at civic functions and community events. The Mayor Making Ceremony is a traditional occasion during which the new Mayor is formally installed, marking the beginning of their term of office.
Thank you to Cllr Folkard for supporting the RAF Air Cadets and for introducing this new role. FS Short will no doubt be an outstanding ambassador for our organisation and a dedicated escort to the Mayor throughout the coming year.
