From night to day. After completing night navigation on Friday evening, our focus shifted to daytime navigation yesterday as some of our cadets took to part of the Roche Valley Way in the Stambridge area for a map skills and development walk.
During the session, cadets practised a range of map-reading techniques, including the 5 Ds of map reading. Alongside developing their navigation skills, they also learned about significant local history, while the more senior cadets had the opportunity to put their leadership skills into practice. It was a thoroughly worthwhile session, with lots learned and clear improvements in map-reading skills shown throughout the day.
