‘Serve to Lead’ – Former Army Captain Inspires Cadets with First-Hand Military Insights

On Friday 27 June, we welcomed guest speaker Lt Sean Banham. A former Captain in both the Royal Logistics Corps and the Royal Tank Regiment, Sean served in the British Army from 2008, including a deployment to Afghanistan on Operation Herrick 13, where he was part of an ISTAR detachment with 16 Air Assault Brigade.

Now supporting students in the Combined Cadet Force (CCF), Sean gave an engaging and insightful presentation about his military experiences. He spoke about his time in Afghanistan, the mission objectives, the equipment used, the risks faced, and the importance of helping local communities carry on with daily life. He also shared powerful reflections on the motto ‘Serve to Lead’.

The cadets were full of curiosity, with many lining up afterwards to ask questions. A huge thank you to Lt Banham for an inspiring and thought-provoking session.
