Cadets Conquer the Countryside on Bronze DofE Qualifying Expedition

Twenty of our cadets have a lot to be proud of after successfully completing their Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Bronze qualifying expedition this weekend.

The qualifying expedition is the final stage of the Bronze Award’s expedition section, requiring participants to plan and undertake a self-sufficient, two-day journey through the countryside—carrying everything they need with them, including tents, food, and equipment. It’s designed to test their teamwork, navigation, resilience, and leadership under real expedition conditions.

Our cadets took on this challenge in the beautiful Danbury countryside, with the spring sunshine adding a touch of warmth to their adventure. Over the course of the weekend, they demonstrated impressive skills in navigation, campcraft, observation, equipment organisation, and above all, teamwork.

Many said they enjoyed the chance to get to know people they wouldn’t usually talk to, had a lot of fun along the way, and are now feeling inspired to push themselves further by taking on the Silver expedition.

The staff team were incredibly impressed by their determination, teamwork, and positive attitude throughout the weekend. A huge well done to everyone involved!
